This Cookie Policy explains how the Society for Leadership Skills Development (“SLSD”) uses cookies, browser storage and similar technologies on slsdbd.com (the “Website”), what choices you have, and how third-party content on the Website may use such technologies. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences and to provide information to site owners.

Local storage and session storage are browser features that let a website save small pieces of information on your device. Local storage remains until you clear it; session storage is deleted when you close the browser tab. In this policy, we use the word “cookies” to cover all of these technologies.

Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by other services whose content appears on the page (for example a video player) are third-party cookies.

2. Our approach

We keep tracking to a minimum. The Website is a fast, self-contained site: its styles, fonts and scripts are served from our own server, not from third-party advertising or analytics networks. We currently:

  • do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies;
  • do not sell any information collected through cookies;
  • do not currently use analytics cookies. If we introduce analytics in the future, they will be set only after you click “Accept all” in our cookie banner, and this policy will be updated to list them.

3. First-party storage we use

NameTypePurposeDurationCategory
slsd_cookie_consentLocal storageRemembers whether you chose “Accept all” or “Essential only”, so the cookie banner is not shown on every pageUntil you clear your browser storageStrictly necessary
slsd_nameSession storageHolds the first name you typed in the contact form so the thank-you page can greet you personally. It is never sent to our serverDeleted when you close the tabFunctional

Strictly necessary storage does not require consent because the Website cannot function properly without it. You can still block or delete it in your browser settings, but the cookie banner may then appear again on each visit.

4. Third-party content

Some content on the Website is delivered by third-party services. When your browser loads this content, the provider receives standard technical information (such as your IP address and browser type) and may set or read its own cookies according to its own policy.

5. Managing your choices

5.1 Our cookie banner

When you first visit the Website, a banner lets you choose Accept all or Essential only. You can change your choice at any time by clicking Cookie Settings in the footer of any page.

5.2 Browser settings

Most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies and site data. Useful guides:

Blocking all cookies may affect how some websites work. On our Website, the main effect is that the cookie banner may reappear on each visit and embedded videos may not play.

5.3 Private browsing

If you use a private or incognito window, local storage is usually cleared when you close the window, so your cookie choice will not be remembered for your next visit.

6. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Because we do not use cross-site tracking or advertising cookies, our Website behaves the same whether or not your browser sends a “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal. If we introduce optional analytics in the future, we will treat such signals as a request for “Essential only”.

7. Changes to this policy

We will update this Cookie Policy if we change the technologies we use — for example, if we add analytics — and revise the “Last updated” date above. Where required, we will ask for your consent again.
